Wild Thing 40

Wild Thing 40. Radio control sport model. Wingspan 48 in, wing area 600 sq in. For 35 to 46 engine.

Quote: "Hello, This is a model that I just finished building. The plan for the 15 size is but not the 40. So, here it is! It is called the 'Wild Thing 40' that was originally kitted by Quality Aircraft of Port St. Lucie, Florida. I have included the plan and the assembly manual. This would be an extremely easy kit to scratch build off of these plans as the fuselage is basically a square box and the wing is a Hershey bar that has only one wing template.
I also have inclosed a few pictures of my completed model. It was covered in Silkspan over the solid wood areas and Sig Koverall over the wing. The finish is Randolph’s Nitrate to seal the wood surfaces and covering materials. Followed by a combination of Randolph’s and Brodak’s Butyrate dope for color and clear coating.

The engine is an MVVS 46 with their pipe assembly as well. The tip tanks are held on magnetically and are my addition as is the canopy.

It was fifty-four days from start to finish with a couple of hours a night on average. More than half that time was spent on the finish and detailing.
